Sorting Technology

Innovation – Consistency & Produce Care

Our electronic sorters and scanners use advanced patented LED sensor arrays, NIR (Near Infra Red) or CCD cameras to ensure accurate, consistent produce view and recognition. Accept produce flow gently though the machine while air or reliable mechanical fingers deflect other grades into dedicated lines. Decisions are made in milliseconds, comparing the passing produce to user requirements of quality, shape, size and food safety.

This technology has been developed from more than 25 years expertise and working closely with customers. The result is the highest capacity, consistent, compact and accurate sorting machines with a low maintenance overhead, hundreds of satisfied customers and millions of tonnes of sorted produce.

Performance with Reliability

Mechanical simplicity:

  • Low maintenance cost
  • Few breakdowns, as low as 8 bearings on some machines incl infeed and takeaway conveyors
  • Low energy consumption

‘Off belt’ or ‘in air’ vision

  • Clean, unobstructed view – accurate & consistent
  • Belt condition is not so important
  • Flat belt feed – high capacity in a compact machine
  • Food Safety – Excellent for foreign objects
  • Lifespan of LED vision systems to 100,000hrs

Intelligent, Gentle Produce Handling

  • Accept product flow through the machine untouched, without damage – egg safe
  • Padded chutes and special belts control and ensure gentle control.
  • Intelligent fingers (or air ejectors) operate on size, shape, etc for deflected produce. 80% plus of produce can be removed!

Advantage

Efficient Sort, consistent quality over time with few errors.

  • Lower labor requirement
  • Minimal good product to waste

User Friendly – Control & Reporting

The user has full control to sort any product piece into any stream even when over 200,000 pieces per hour are being inspected. We have developed easy use graphical touch screens to make it happen. Sort data and productivity history (on certain models) provide a full analysis of your sort over time, capacity, defects etc to highlight possible improvements.

The Sort

At the heart the inspection criteria are:

  • Shape
  • Size – by length, width, aspect, etc.
  • Color – Skin or defect color by intensity, size, etc.
  • Foreign Objects – Natural or man made (golf ball, metal, plastic, animal etc)
  • Defect & Blemish – from color to rot by area, size, intensity etc
  • Damage – Mechanical or otherwise
